Don't let 2020 be the year to give up on your fitness goals!

Updated: Dec 9, 2020

At first it was the global pandemic, it was new and scary and if the shortage of yeast was any indication, we took great comfort in baking and cooking comfort foods.

The summer gave us some reprieve with small outdoor gatherings and we managed to get ourselves outdoors and enjoy nature.

Once fall came around and schools began, the homeschooling stress caught up to us and some of us began day time drinking to cope. No judgement here, in fact I send my heartfelt sympathies to all Moms with little ones at home. I cannot imagine how you keep it together.

The racial tensions and the election did not help either. All this stress is wreaking havoc on our stress levels, our sleep patterns and of course our plans to stay in shape.

Now with the return of the next wave of COVID and the upcoming holidays, we might as well give up any hope of bringing back our bodies BC (Before Covid), right?

WRONG!!! We have to stop the bleeding! STAT!

Trust me, you CAN do it. Repeat after me:

If you find yourself in a state of complete disarray with your fitness level/ goals, it is not because you are incapable or lack will power, its because you have turned the idea of getting into shape into a HUGE mountain in your head and now it seems impossible.

Remember this:

You don't need a complete overhaul or move into the biggest loser ranch for a year to see your old self again, you just need to take the first steps. The minute you start, you will begin to feel good, and the better you feel, the more you will want to do.

To make it easy, I've broken it down into 3 simple steps:

Purge: A simple task of emptying out the junk drawer in your pantry can re-ignite your desire to do more and give you a sense of control.

Move: I guarantee you if you just got up, put on a fun playlist and went for a walk or a jog, you would come back feeling energized and joyful.

Speak: Speak your intentions out loud. Studies show that sharing your goals out loud increase your chances of getting there and recruiting a buddy to join you will exponentially increase your chances of success.

Life is complicated enough right now, let's not complicate our health and wellness too. Take it one step at a time and before you know it, you will look back and see yourself at the top of the hill.

Let's do this!
